Nice work, Jeff! That purple color is always a big sign to me that a wine could be a Syrah. I was also thinking California as you were describing it. Zin popped in my head too when you started talking about how jammy it was, but the color wasn’t right. I would remove the “sort of”, you nailed it dude! 🙂
Do you find that wines from Argentina, in general, have that surprising spicy/peppery (think jalepeno) component to them? I haven’t had a ton of them, but it is something that I think I have started to correlate. Curious on your opinion.

There’s this spicey/splintery oak thing that always screams Argentina to me. It’s something about how the oak is used. That UNO Malbec you tried had that thing going on.

Yep, that’s what I’m talking about, but there is also a pepperiness that I pick up too.
