Stay Rad Wine Blog TV Episode 4: You be you… I’ll BV!

Hey Everybody,

This episode, I’ll be tasting that BV 2009 Coastal Estates Cabernet Sauvignon…

You should be able to find this at most places between 5 and 10 bucks.  I got a two-pack at CostCo for 12 bucks.

Please note that YouTube made me chop the video in half.  Watch part 4.1 first, silly!

And now, part 4.2…

Looks like you had fun making this one. I am a fan of the Venturi and have found similar results comparing it to a decanter. I have read that same article about the blender but I always assumed it would over oxidize it. But I will definitely give it a “spin” now.

Side note: I ran into the exact same problem tonight with a video and if you log into youtube and go to the upload page you can “upgrade” your account to allow for videos greater than 15 minutes. It doesn’t cost any extra.

My Abruzzese grandfather used to “Spruzzo, spruzzo!” his wine into a ceramic pitcher before pouring a glass. Spruzzo is Italian for “splash” and has become my preferred method of decanting wines.

Also, since we’re talking about blending wine…

    See you at Vinyl,

      Dave,
I was thinking about the spruzzo action while I was decanting, but I needed to control the variables… You dig?
      Have a happy Vegetarian-Italian Thanksgiving.
      Out!

Your methods were definitely sound. I just wanted to add a little Italianissimo to the mix! It also reminded me how much I need an old ceramic pitcher to serve wine from.

What are you popping open for Thanksgiving? Anything special? Maybe something Italian?

Hitting up the Reno wine shops tomorrow. I’ll see if I can squeeze in some paisano wine.

A blender, haha, never crossed my mind …
Could we get even more creative? Did you ever tried to add CO2 to a still wine? You know, with those kind of tools to make sparkling water ..

    Anyway, another cool video.
I was sippin’ on a Kadarka from Hungary while watching. Any funky grapes on the show soon?

    Cheers, JDR
